Services
PRIDE provides a variety of services to individuals as well as Professional, Service, School or Community organizations. Some of these services include:
- Speech Therapyevaluates and treats speech problems that might come from developmental delay, stroke, or other ways that cause speech problems.
- Occupational Therapy treats mostly children in our Early Intervention Program, as well as in the schools. It ranges from dressing to difficulties with handwriting, to Activities of Daily Living.
- Early Intervention Services for Children with special needs ages birth through three. This is a contracted program with the Juniata Valley Tri-County MH/MR Program.
- Equipment Loan Program offers rehabilitation equipment such as canes, walkers, or wheelchairs to anyone in need, with a prescription from their doctor and a means of transportation.
- Specific Assistance Program helps people with specific health needs on a case by case basis.
- Certified Therapeutic Horseback Riding develops balance, independence, and life long skills. This program is held at Horsepower Farms.
- Summer Recreation Program is a "Summer Camp" for school age children that receive therapies, while still having fun. It runs 6 weeks during summer break.
- Social-Recreational Program is for adults with disabilities. Several times a year, the group gathers for bowling, a Christmas party, and even a family picnic.
- Information and Referral Services are provided every time someone calls the office. PRIDE employees help assist you in finding the program that is right for you.
- Public Education and Advocacy provide education for people of all ages. PRIDE provides information to help someone get the help they might need in the future.
- PRIDE Cares Senior Citizens Program addresses some of the needs of senior citizens in our county.
- Hal's Pals are a series of dolls, each with his or her own disability. The program is primarily shown to students in grade school, however, it has been shown to senior centers, clubs, and groups of all ages.
PRIDE also participates in numerous health related community activities such as Health Fairs and Corporate/Industrial Education Forums.
The PRIDE office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Persons in need of service or information about any of PRIDE's services can call the office directly at 814-643-5724. Referrals for service may also be made through a Human Service Agency, a physician, a rehabilitation center hospital or self-referral.
